NHL announces 4 referees for Stanley Cup Final.

Referees and linesmen officially announced for the Stanley Cup Final.

All of the pieces are now in place for the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers, with the National Hockey League announcing on Sunday the names of all the officials who will oversee this year's Stanley Cup Final.

The biggest question on everyone's mind will of course be the referees that will be involved in the Stanley Cup Final with 4 officials being given that honor as per Scouting The Refs.

Here are those 4 officials:

Francis Charron
Jean Hebert
Wes McCauley
Chris Rooney

It is especially great to see NHL referee Chris Rooney get the nod for the Stanley Cup Final when you consider what he had to endure to get there. Rooney suffered what initially looked like a very serious injury to his eye in Game 7 of the second round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers.

Thankfully the injury was just above Rooney's eye, sparing him any kind of truly serious injury, and in true hockey fashion he is right back on his skates and back at it again.

That group of 4 referees will be backed by a group of 4 linesmen, and they are the following:

Devin Berg
Scott Cherrey
Ryan Gibbons
Trent Knorr

All of the referees overseeing this year's Stanley Cup Final have extensive experience in the biggest games of the year with Charron and Hebert being the least experienced of the 4 men with only 3 Stanley Cup Finals under their belt. Saying 'only' 3 Stanley Cup Finals does sound a little ridiculous, but it is considerably less experience than Rooney who has officiated a whopping 8 Stanley Cup Finals or McCauley who has officiated 11 different Stanley Cup Finals throughout his career in the NHL.

Did the NHL pick the right men for the job? Or would you have prefered to see some different names on this list? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
