NHL announces multi-game suspension for Montreal's Michael Pezzetta
This was to be expected after his illegal hit.
The Montreal Canadiens will be without forward Michael Pezzetta for the next two games.
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has suspended him for the next two games stemming from his illegal check to the head of Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie.
The incident occurred at the 15:44 mark of the Caps’ blowout 8-4 victory over the Habs on Saturday night at Montreal's Bell Centre; he was only assessed a minor penalty on the play.
“The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head,” DoPS wrote on NHL.com after the infraction. “However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.”
Pezzetta has scored five goals and three assists in 47 games this season for the Habs, who were the first NHL team officially eliminated from playoff contention earlier this year.
