NHL announces Trade Deadline for 2025-26 NHL season.

Each and every year the National Hockey League's trade deadline proves to be one of the most exciting dates of the year for fans of hockey. The days, weeks and even months leading up to the trade deadline fuel a ton of excitement in the sport as fans and pundits alike attempt to theorize about which moves teams around the league will make before the clock runs out of time.

That will be no exception when it comes to the 2025-26 NHL trade deadline but this time we won't have to wait as long, with the NHL announcing on Saturday that the date will be pushed forward ever so slightly this year.

On Saturday, the NHL announced that March 6th of 2026 will serve as the official trade deadline for the 2025-26 NHL regular season, a date that could quickly become an extremely hot topic around the league. We have already seen some extremely high profile contract negotiations go in an unexpected direction with both Kirill Kaprizov and Connor McDavid still unsigned heading into the final year of their respective contracts, and that could mean fireworks the likes of which we haven't seen in decades if things don't change in the coming months.

This will also prove to be uniquely challenging for teams this year with the Winter Olympic Games on the schedule in a major way. The NHL will be taking a 19 day long break in the month of February with their players set to make a return to the Olympic Games and who knows how that could complicate matters. Teams may be hesitant to trade for players that could potentially be injured during their time at the Olympics, whereas teams looking to deal players may want to get the deals done before the break even begins.

This is definitely one date that hockey fans will want to pencil in on their calendars.
