NHL cancels one of final remaining games before shutdown

This just in, the NHL has officially postponed this evening's scheduled game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Washington Capitals.
NEW YORK (Dec. 21, 2021) – The National Hockey League announced today that due to COVID-related issues affecting the Washington Capitals, tonight’s game at the Philadelphia Flyers has been postponed. A make-up date for the game has yet to be established.
This makes it now nearly 50 postponed games this season, with 40 of them coming in the last week.
The NHL is undergoing a "pause" for an extended Holiday Break following this evening's lone game on the schedule between the Vegas Golden Knights and Tampa Bay Lightning. But... at this point, do you honestly expect that game to go ahead as scheduled?
Starting Wednesday, December 22nd through Sunday, December 26th the league has mandated that all team facilities be closed and that players do not gather to train or practice. The NHL is hopeful that these changes will help the entire league get through the current outbreak of positive test cases amongst its teams.
