Frank just keeps digging himself a deeper hole
With the New York Islanders making an abrupt coaching change this past weekend, all eyes are on the team and new head coach Peter DeBoer down the stretch.
The Isles are currently three points out of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference and are riding a 4 game losing streak, so they'll be in tough to clinch a spot.
In the wake of Patrick Roy's dismissal, the Islanders have had nothing but praise for their former coach but NHL insider Frank Seravalli tried to kick up some controversy with some pointed comments yesterday.
Seravalli reported that the Islanders players were growing tired of Roy talking about his own career and his four Stanley Cup championships. A dumbfounded Anders Lee though, the Islanders' captain, said that there is no truth to those rumors.
"We're definitely not frustrated with Patty talking about that kind of thing," Lee told Islanders reporter Stefen Rosner today. "When he did, it was very relevant to the situation, and only him trying to help and tell a story. No one was walking away with those feelings."
Wait... so you're telling me that Frank made it up?
Well, now I've heard it all...
In all seriousness, Seravalli has been called out several times over the past few years for manufacturing storylines and straight up fabricating some narratives. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar yet again.
