NHL could punish Gabe Landeskog for dirty hit on Chicago's Kirby Dach
Not a good look for the Avs captain.
It's only one game, but the captain of the Colorado Avalanche may have already found himself in hot water with the National Hockey League.
During the third period of last night's 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at Ball Arena, Gabe Landeskog made the bizarre decision to plaster Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach into the boards while the latter was already on his knees. A skirmish immediately broke out; Landeskog was assessed a two-minute minor for boarding, and also given a roughing penalty for his role in the festivities that followed.
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced on Thursday morning that Landeskog has been summoned for a disciplinary hearing.
Prior to the incident, Landeskog had contributed a goal and an assist.
The Avalanche captain has been suspended several times in his career. It's safe to assume that given his past history, the NHL will be taking that into account and could decide to once again sit him for a handful of games.
