Wow, the schedule is taking a brutal hit.
Last night, the NHL postponed the game between the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets scheduled at Nationwide Arena in Columbus due to the continued severe winter weather in Buffalo.
And it looks like another postponement is likely to take place for another Sabres’ game, as the team is expected to host the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night.
According to reporter Lance Lysowski, the driving ban in Buffalo is expected to affect the Sabres’ schedule for practice and perhaps the game against Detroit.
“This will prevent the Sabres from practicing today and increase the likelihood of another postponement.”
More changes could come as the Sabres also play at the Boston Bruins on New Year’s Eve to begin a three-game road trip. The Sabres game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Dec. 23 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo was postponed and rescheduled for March 4. Buffalo’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers originally scheduled for March 4 now will be played Jan. 9.
The NHL previously announced the game between the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators on Dec. 23 at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa was rescheduled for Feb. 27.
The Red Wings and Senators already were scheduled to play at Ottawa on Feb. 28, meaning they will now play there on back-to-back nights.
And with tomorrow game’s between the Sabres and Red Wings in jeopardy, the schedule for both teams will be even more affected by the weather conditions and postponements…
More to come.
