This just in, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has formally allowed Montreal Canadiens prospect Logan Mailloux to make his NHL debut.

Check it out:

Mailloux, of course, was suspended by Bettman and the NHL before even suiting up for the Habs. The young defenseman was arrested and charged in Sweden before he was even drafted into the NHL. Mailloux was found guilty of secretly taking photos and videos of a young woman while they were engaging in a sexual act and sharing these photos and videos with his teammates. He was fined $2,000 CAD and renounced himself from the draft stating that he wanted time to focus on reconciliation and his personal development. Then Habs GM Marc Bergevin simply ignored Mailloux's request and selected him 31st overall in the 2021 NL Entry Draft amidst considerable controversy.

Since his Draft day it's not been known if Mailloux would be allowed to play in the NHL. The OHL suspended him from September, 2021 until January, 2022. Quebec-based reporter Renaud Lavoie reported this past October that Mailloux had been reinstated by the NHL, but today's news is the first real official confirmation of Lavoie's report.

The 21 year old blueliner has 14 goals and 47 points in 70 games with the AHL's Laval Rocket during his first season of professional hockey.
