NHL forward gets absolutely destroyed by international head coach.
Keystone Press.

One National Hockey League forward received some particularly harsh criticism on Monday morning, and it likely caught him completely off guard.

According to a report from Russian reporter Slava Malamud Russian coach Oleg Znarok absoalutely buried theEdmonton Oilers' Nail Yakupov seemingly unprovoked after being asked a simple question.

Russia has won two bronze medals at the last two World Championship events, and done so both times without the assistance of Yakupov, and Znarok was asked why the young forward had been left off the roster. Instead of simply stating that Yakupov wasn't a good fit, or didn't fit with the system, or even anything of that sort, he stated that leaving Yakupov off the roster was "addition by subtraction."

It's a brutal statement from a man who had seemingly no motivation to make it, and it may be an indication that the Russian international team are extremely disappointed with how Yakupov has developed.
