An NHL game scheduled for later today has been cancelled.
The National Hockey League has been forced to cancel one of today's games.
According to a breaking news report from NHL insider Chris Johnston, one of today's games has been cancelled. That game, a matchup scheduled for later tonight between the Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets, has now been delayed all the way until March later this year.
The long delay is no doubt a direct result of the upcoming break for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy.
Mother nature appears to be the culprit in this matter with Johnston reporting that "severe winter weather" is the official cause of tonight's game being cancelled. The National Weather Service had previously issued an "Extreme Cold Warning" for Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, prior to this announcement and of course Nationwide Arena is located in Columbus, Ohio.
Unfortunate news for the fans who made plans to attend tonight's game, but hopefully the delay will result in a better experience for them when the game is eventually played later this year.
