NHL games in danger of being cancelled over the weekend.

An extremely serious situation is developing that has put NHL games in jeopardy.

Mother nature is having her way with a few planned sporting events over the weekend.

Although at the time of this writing we have yet to hear of any official cancellations from the National Hockey League, there are a number of games this weekend currently being monitored by the league. The latest comes to us courtesy of The Athletic's Matthew Fairburn who reports that today's game between the Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres remains on schedule in spite of the travel ban that will go into effect later this evening.

The Sabres do have another game scheduled for Monday however, where they will welcome the San Jose Sharks, and there are concerns already about the Sharks' ability to travel to Buffalo for that game.

We have already seen the National Football League's scheduled clash between between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills this coming Monday forced to be cancelled, and one has to wonder if the NHL will not follow suit given the ongoing weather crisis.

Stay tuned for more details.
