NHL insider Elliotte Friedman releases update on Josh Ho-Sang

The former 1st round pick who bailed on the Islanders is back making headlines again.

For the fourth season in a row Josh Ho-Sang failed to make the New York Islanders’ opening night roster, despite being given an opportunity to show off his skill in training camp and the preseason. Ho-Sang then reportedly requested a trade, was placed on waivers and subsequently left the team in some sort of protest?

“I do have things I need to work on down here, my game is far from perfect. It can constantly improve. But I do think a lot of the stuff was unwarranted, especially in terms of the rope that other people were given,” Ho-Sang last season when he was also cut from the Islanders’ roster. “I understand I have a history and that might be a factor. I don’t know. But it’s frustrating to me.”

This time around Ho-Sang made it to the final round of cuts, but was ultimately sent down to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers passing through waivers along the way. The fact that not a single team put in a waiver claim on the talented former first round pick speaks volumes.

Ho-Sang failed to report to Bridgeport and was subsequently suspended by the team. He has yet to play a game this season. But don’t look now… Ho-Sang is back. Ho-Sang shared a creative Eminem-inspired message to Instagram last night announcing his return and today NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that Ho-Sang will re-join the Sound Tigers

Check it out:

Okay… so Ho-Sang is back, but here’s the real question… does anyone care? Nobody took a chance on this guy on waivers… no one made a trade for this guy… why should we care? Because he made a funny Instagram post? Gotta bring more to the table than that…

My advice: Forget everything else and just play, Josh. Prove that you’re an NHL player and someone will gladly take a chance on you. Until then though, put your nose to the grindstone and get to work.
