A date has been set for Carter Hart's return to the NHL.
The highly anticipated return of National Hockey League goaltender Carter Hart has arrived. At least that is the case according to NHL insider Kevin Weekes who on Sunday broke the news early of Hart's return to the big leagues.
According to Weekes, Hart is set to join the Golden Knights after a 3 game stint with the Henderson Silver Knights, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. Hart did not look his best in those 3 outings with a 3.07 goals against average and a .839 save percentage, but according to Weekes he will see his first NHL action since the 2023-24 season this coming week. Weekes reports that Hart is expected to make his Golden Knights debut on Tuesday, when they face the Chicago Blackhawks.
Hart has of course been surrounded by some controversy following a sexual assault trial in Canada in which Hart was found not guilty and it remains to be seen how he will be received by fans in what will be his first game since that scandal erupted. Hart was charged alongside fellow hockey players Michael McLeod, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote, all of whom where also acquitted in the trial, and up until now none of those players have made their return to the NHL. Hart will be the first and I do wonder if that could potentially open the door for one or more of those other players to return, depending of course on how Hart's return is received this week.
Prior to the scandal Hart played a pivotal role in goal for the Philadelphia Flyers organization and amassed 227 games of NHL experience under his belt. Over his NHL career Hart boast a 2.94 goals against average and a .906 save percentage, and there's no doubt the Golden Knights are hoping he will regain that form at the NHL level.
