A disturbing incident from a National Hockey League game late last year is going viral and it has now forced the league itself to take action.

That incident, which was captured on video, appears to show a group of fans wearing Dallas Stars colors repeatedly performing what can only be described as a Nazi Salute during the course of a live NHL game. The crowd can even be heard chanting for the Dallas Stars as the group of men perform the gesture over and over again, leaving no doubt about the fact that this is happening at the American Airlines Center, the home of the Dallas Stars.

You can see the video for yourself just below:

Although the incident happened all the way back in December, the video has only recently gained traction on social media which has brought it to the attention of millions of internet users. In response to learning of the video, the American Airlines Center has released a statement.

"As such, we strongly denounce the actions that appear to be depicted in the video footage and are conducting an internal investigation. All fans and attendees are expected to adhere to AAC and, as applicable, NBA or NHL Codes of Conduct when attending events," said the AAC in a statement.

The Stars also responded.

"(We are) fully aligned with the arena’s statement and working with them to find out exactly what happened," said the Stars via a spokesperson as per ESPN.

The video has been viewed millions of times on social media with many fans calling for the NHL to issue a lifetime ban to all of those involved in the incident.

Given the level of attention this has received, I suspect the results of this investigation will be made public sooner rather than later.
