Bobby Hull passes away at 84.
A legend of the National Hockey League is no more.
A report from the Daily Herald has confirmed that controversial NHL legend Bobby Hull passed away on Monday morning at the age of 84.
Hull was a fixture of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 60s and would capture a Stanley Cup alongside fellow Blackhawks legend Stan Mikita in 1961 and was largely viewed as one of the greatest players of his era and would even go on to earn the nickname "The Golden Jet" both for his incredible skill and his trademark blonde hair.
Hull however was a controversial figure throughout his life, so much so that it tainted his legacy in the sport of hockey in the eyes of many fans. Accusations of domestic abuse as well as accusations regarding past comments about Adolf Hitler followed Hull in the later years of his life.
To his credit however, Hull always acknowledged that his detractors had a right to dislike him if they chose to do so.
"Those who were upset, that's OK. They have their rights," said Hull as per the Daily Herald.
Regardless of what you may think of the man, he has left a lasting legacy in the National Hockey League and it is one that will live on long after he is gone.
My condolences go out to the Hull family, as well as all of Bobby's loved ones and admirers.
