In a sad piece of news, it appears one of the NHL's all-time greats is suffering from a tragic illness.
Montreal Canadiens great Henri Richard was absent from the 22nd Hector "Toe" Blake Alzheimer Celebrity Golf Tournament in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec. In translated interviews from Le Journal de Quebec, NHL legends Dickie Moore, Phil Goyette and Don Marshall all confided that "The Pocket Rocket" has been living with Alzheimer's disease and that his condition "has worsened lately".
A career Canadien, Richard won the Stanley Cup a record 11 times. The 79 year-old accumulated 358 goals and 1,046 points in 1,259 games during his 20-year career with the Habs. Richard is a true legend of the game and was part of a Canadiens team that won a record 5 consecutive Stanley Cups from 1956-1960.
