We aren’t sure how excited we should be about what NHL insider Pierre LeBrun is reporting, however, we must admit there is a sense of hope. LeBrun reports theNHL-NHLPA Return To Play Committee has remained in constant dialogue since Saturday, with the hope being to reach a resolution over the next seven to 10 days.

As you know, we cannot get too excited seeing that there are no guarantees of a resolution being reached in that timeline.

On Monday, LeBrun explained that that the NHL and NHLPA made some progress over the weekend that involved a 24-team playoff format should play resume this summer.

On top of that, his colleague Darren Dreger revealed that a two-hub city concept featuring 12 teams in each city has been discussed and remains one of the possibilities if the NHL season is able to resume.

The season has been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic since March 12 and we’ve heard some encouraging and devastating rumours about what might happened to the rest of the campaign.

We might get a final answer in a week or more.
