The National Hockey League has narrowed down the candidates for general manager of the year down to three finalists.

In an official announcement the league revealed that Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli, Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion, and Nashville Predators general manager David Poile are the final three.

Unsurprisingly all three men have teams that made playoff runs this season, with Dorion and Poile both having teams currently fighting it out on either side of the Conference Finals.

All three men made significant trades over the course of the last season and that combined with the successful results they produced on the ice are likely the reasons they were selected for this honor.
