NHL officially postpones game due to an “abundance of caution”

This just in, the NHL has officially postponed tonight's scheduled game between the Nashville Predators and Carolina Hurricanes "due to an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and gameday personnel.

Official word from the NHL:


TSN hockey insider Pierre LeBrun reports that the decision was made due to a potential COVID-19 breakout amongst the Hurricanes.

I guess we shouldn't be too surprised right? This was bound to happen this season and it's exactly the reason why the NHL elected to do a reduced schedule season to begin with. I mean... the Dallas Stars haven't even started their season yet so it's no surprise that there are other schedule adjustments as well.
