Maybe this could work as an expansion market?
Tom Dundon, owner of the Carolina Hurricanes, has reportedly agreed to purchase the NBA's Portland Trailblazers from the estate of long-time Trailblazers owner Paul G. Allen.
This, of course, has prompted rumors that Dundon might be interested in moving the Hurricanes from Raleigh, North Carolina to Portland, Oregon. After all, the NHL has long been rumored to be interested in the Portland market, doubly so after the initial success in Seattle, Washington just north. NHL in the Pacific Northwest has been successful thus far, why not capitalize on that grownth?
Of course, the Hurricanes have been relatively stable in Raleigh, especially under Dundon. The owner's management style may not jive with everyone, but the team has been relatively successful in recent years and, by extension, profitable as well.
My theory? Dundon just has a thing for black and red circle based logos...
