NHL Player Safety comes down on Evander Kane, Sunday.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has disciplined Evander Kane.

As it turns out, Saturday night wasn't that great of a night for Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane.

Not only did Kane get publicly chewed out on the Oilers bench by National Hockey League veteran and Oilers teammate Corey Perry, but now the NHL's Department of Player Safety has come down on Kane for his behavior during the course of the very same game.

In an official announcement, the Department of Player Safety has revealed that they will be issuing a $5,000 fine to Kane for a slash he delivered to Calgary Flames forward Dryden Hunt during the course of last night's game. Although Kane was penalized by the officials on the ice, the Department of Player Safety clearly felt his slash had crossed the threshold of supplementary discipline.

This isn't great news for Kane who has now been subject to 2 fines already this season, both of which would count against him in the event that he found himself in front of the NHL's disciplinary committee once again. That would be especially worrisome if Kane were facing a suspension, and even more so if it occurred during the Stanley Cup playoffs which are just around the corner.
