The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has suspended Florida Panthers forward AJ Greer after a nasty hit he delivered this past week to Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary, but will it be enough to satisfy those calling for the league to throw the book at Greer?

On Sunday, the league officially announced that Greer has been suspended for three games following an extremely dangerous looking hit from behind. Not only did the hit look dangerous, but it also appeared to be an act of frustration on the part of Greer which made it look all that much more vicious. While it is impossible to truly know someone's intent, you could easily make the case that Greer was looking to injure Zary with a gesture such as this.

The suspension won't likely have a big impact on the Florida Panthers who are already well out of the playoff race this season, although there's no question that Greer has played a big role for them this season with the team dealing with so many injuries at the forward position. Greer had 13 goals and 11 assists for a total of 24 points in 68 games this season prior to being suspended today.
