NHL Player Safety has made their decision on the controversial hit
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has made it's ruling after a highly controversial hit on Saturday night.
According to a report from ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, the disciplinary arm of the league will not be pursuing any further discipline for Washington Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson in regards to a devastating hit he delivered to Carolina Hurricanes forward Logan Stankoven during a Saturday night clash between the Capitals and Hurricanes. Wyshynski expressed that he agrees with the decision, feeling that the size of both men was the determining factor in causing the head contact that occurred on the play.
While that news will likely be well received in Washington, I suspect the Hurricanes will not be so happy about things given just how furious they were regarding the incident during the game. Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour could be seen going ballistic on the Hurricanes bench once he realized that the officials on the ice would not be penalizing Wilson for the hit.
