NHL Player Safety suspends Blake Lizotte for cross-checking Josh Morrissey.
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has suspended Blake Lizotte for a crosscheck to the face of Josh Morrissey.
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has come down on Los Angeles Kings forward Blake Lizotte, suspending him for his actions over the weekend.
On Saturday night, Lizotte delivered a crosscheck to the unprotected face of an unsuspecting Josh Morrissey, sending the Winnipeg Jets veteran forward crashing to the ice as he clutched his face. Lizotte was immediately awarded a match penalty and game misconduct for the infraction, but the league clearly felt that further discipline was warranted.
After announcing that Lizotte would have a hearing for the crosscheck earlier today, the Department of Player Safety has now suspended Lizotte for one additional game.
