The Chicago Blackhawks are grateful to have won the Draft lottery, hence selecting superstar Connor Bedard with their first round pick. While the Hawks’ season is a downer, the star rookie has not disappointed. Just on Wednesday, he lifted his team over the Winnipeg Jets in the overtime winner , his15th tally of his first NHL season as he is on pace for 36 goals as a rookie.

Unfortunately for Bedard, he is also finding out that it can be lonely at the top. Fans were also made aware of that reality on Thursday when Emily Kaplan of ESPN reported that some NHL players and coaches were frustrated and complained about the media coverage the young prodigy was receiving earlier in the 2023-24 season.

Jealous much?

It has to be said that the more attention you get, the more you expose yourself to criticism and jealousy. However, Bedard was not going to step a step back to please those envious folks.

None of the players were named in the article, however, one veteran had made it clear he felt this was too much for the young forward. At the start of the season, Vegas Golden Knights’ Jonathan Marchessault wasn’t afraid to call out media and confessed that “the media are hard on him and they should leave him alone”.

However for now, media has not messing with Bedard’s head and performances. The talented forward is currently riding a five-game point streak, and he has three goals and five assists in that stretch. In 34 games this season, Bedard has put up 15 goals and 32 points.
