NHL players propose new calendar to resume season near fall to end 2019-20 campaign

TSN continues to share great content ever since the National Hockey League has paused the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus outbreak and it seems like players are not standing by and just watching.

According to Frank Seravelli, players have proposed August-September to finish the 2019-20 season, meaning the 2020-21 campaign would only kick off in November.

This would be a first in the NHL and with these uncertain times, Seravelli feels like it could become one of the only scenarios possible to resume the current season.

This would mean that the 2020-21 season would take place on a condensed schedule, but with a total of 82 games per team nonetheless.

As Seravelli points out, this is a suggestion that is making its way to the NHLPA and that they are hoping to present this scenario to the NHL later on in the process.

His colleague Pierre LeBrun mentioned that the scenario has been leaked to some NHL governors, who aren’t against it, meaning this could be a potential resolution.

It remains to be seen what the coronavirus will have to say about that…
