The National Hockey League has been forced to delay one of the very first preseason games of the year.

On Sunday, the Colorado Avalanche officially announced that their upcoming game against the Utah Mammoth has been forced to delay due to travel issues. The game was initially scheduled to kick off at 2:30 pm at Denver’s Magness Arena but it has been delayed without a new time provided as of yet.

The Avalanche have announced that more updates will be forthcoming, but thus far there has been no word on what the new time will look like.

The fact that there has been no update thus far leads me to believe that this is not a minor hiccup but instead a significant delay, although this is only speculation on my part at this time.

What makes matters worse is that these two teams are expected to play twice today, with another game scheduled 4 hours later than the initial start. There has been no word yet on whether or not the delay for the first game will impact the start time of the second game on the schedule.

Stay tuned for more updates on this rapidly developing story.
