NHL prospect making Canada regret World Juniors snub.
A top NHL prospect has been on an absolute rampage since being left off of Canada's World Juniors roster.
I genuinely don't envy the job of any man that has to put together an international roster in the sport of hockey, especially not one who has to do so for a country like Canada that is absolutely loaded with young hockey talent.
There will always be players who are left off the roster that fans and pundits believe should have been included but the sad reality is that there are a limited number of spots available. That limited number of spots means that you're going to have to make some players unhappy and I would wager that one such player is none other than Anaheim Ducks first round draft pick Beckett Sennecke.
The 18 year old forward, who went 3rd overall in this year's National Hockey League Entry Draft, was snubbed by Team Canada for the upcoming World Juniors tournament and may now be on a mission to prove that they made the wrong decision by leaving him off the roster. Sennecke has been on an absolute tear through the Ontario Hockey League since being left off the roster with a whopping 14 points over his last 3 games since the snub, a tear that was capped off on Friday night by an incredible display of skilll.
Sennecke made the London Knights of the OHL look silly in the third period of Friday night's game between the Knight's and Sennecke's Oshawa Generals when he pulled off a truly dazzling move as he crossed the blue line into the offensive zone, a move that would lead to an incredible goal.
Sennecke began by kicking the puck to himself near center ice and would then proceed to intentionally bounce the puck off his own skate in an effort to blow past the lone defender in his way, doing so successfully before finding the back of the net.
Here's a look at the incredible replay:
And a lengthier highlight published by the NHL:
If Sennecke is indeed upset at being left off of Canada's World Juniors roster, this is certainly one way to make the team regret their decision.
