An incredible knockout is turning heads in the sport of hockey.
A young National Hockey League prospect has just put the hockey world on notice after a spectacular fight in the American Hockey League ended in even more spectacular fashion.
On Sunday night, during an AHL game contested between the Calgary Wranglers and Coachella Valley Firebirds, we were treated to a truly epic showdown between Firebirds defenseman Kaden Hammell and Wranglers forward Alex Gallant.
As you can tell from the broadcast commentary in the video of this scrap, there was some concern that Hammell would be outmatched against Gallant, a player that once racked up 194 penalty minutes in a single season, but it would be Hammell who would send a message with his performance in this one.
As the two men squared off neither of them showed any fear and once the punches began to fly it became clear that fear is nothing but a 4 letter word to both of these men. Both of them stood in the pocket and traded punch for punch like a pair of Rock Em Sock Em robots, that is at least until Hammell connected with the hammer. A thunderous blow would fell Gallant and knock him down to the ice where he would remain, dazed from the impact of the blow that had just laid him low.
Hammell on the other hand was fully embracing the moment, hyping up the fans in attendance and inviting both their cheers and boos by cupping his ears towards the crowd.
An incredible moment for the young NHL prospect, the kind of moment that may cause the Seattle Kraken to look at their third round pick (148th overall) from the 2023 NHL Entry Draft a little more closely.
