The first of what will likely be two series of punishments from the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety has come through for the Dallas Stars.
While captain Jamie Benn awaits his fate stemming from his dirty cross check to the head of Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone that resulted in a five minute major penalty and game misconduct, forward Max Domi found himself in hot water for a dirty slash of his own to Stone, as well as a subsequent cross check of his own to the back of Golden Knights defenseman Nicolas Hague.
He became the second Stars player in as many periods to earn a game misconduct due to his on-ice actions, and he's been fined a total of $5,000, the maximum allowed under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement:
