Well, even though the big man from the North Pole has already made his rounds, this is certainly a big lump of coal in the stockings of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Minutes ago, news broke on Twitter that the National Hockey League has fined the Leafs a total of $100,000 for a violation of the NHL CBA rules. The violation? Traveling during the holiday break.

The statement from the NHL reads:

"The National Hockey League announced today that it has fined the Toronto Maple Leafs' organization $100,000 for the team's travel to St. Louis on Dec. 26, 2022. This team activity was in violation of Article 16.5(b) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL and the NHL Players' Association.

The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation."

However, for any Leafs fans wondering if this will affect the team’s salary cap standing, they needn’t be.
