NHL reporter begs Sens' Dorion to avoid making a trade he'll regret!

Is it too late?!

It's one thing when passionate fans call for it, but when a renown write like James Gordon of the Athletic calls upon Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion to avoid a “panic teardown”, it is quite something else.

With the Senators struggling to score amidst a terrible run of only three wins in the last 19 contests, Gordon is against the idea of trading top winger Mike Hoffman

He rather sees defenseman Cody Ceci and forward Zack Smith ending up on the trade block, and use the youth within their roster to manage the rest. Cody could bring forth some young assets the Sens lost in the blockbuster Matt Duchene deal.

But Gordon does not want to see the Senators hitting the panic button and undergo a complete roster overhaul!

"If the Senators were to dump Karlsson, Duchene, Brassard, Hoffman or Stone right now, they’d spend the next five to eight years wandering the wilderness looking for Karlssons, Duchenes, Brassards, Hoffmans (Hoffmen?) and Stones."

Many still expect Dorion to move one or two veterans if the Sens can get a couple of younger NHL-ready players in return. While Hoffman would definitely be able to fetch an interesting return, Gordon is right: dealing him would weaken an already lethargic offense.

Let's now see if the Senators will listen to Gordon's plea... Would you?
