NHL reporter Jackie Redmond furious at top WWE superstar over Maple Leafs
Redmond works double-duty broadcasts, but remains first and foremost a die-hard Maple Leafs fan… which led to this: read below.
Jackie Redmond is an NHL reporter, but also pulls double duty for the World Wrestling Entertainment broadcasts of RAW on Netflix Monday nights. It is no secret for the hockey fans base that Redmond is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan and her love for the Canadian team pushed her limits during the postseason when the Maple Leafs were once again eliminated in the second round, by the Florida Panthers. The Cats are now facing the Oilers, again, in the Stanley Cup Final, with Edmonton leading the series 1-0.
Redmond recently explained how she got in arguments with WWE superstar C.M. Punk, who happens to be a huge fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. While he is aware that his favourite team is currently in a rebuild and that a championship run will come later, Punk has kept making fun of Redmond and her love for the Maple Leafs that finally she reached her breaking point, she explained on a recent Front Office Sports interview, claiming their is a bad curse on Toronto:
"I don’t know what it’s like to watch my sports team win anything,” she said when asked if she believed the Leafs would ever win the Stanley Cup. “But it feels like they’re cursed. It really does. There’s a hex on the Maple Leafs.”
She then explained her recent rift with Punk:
“As long as I’m working with CM Punk, I just can’t handle the torture I endure at the hands of him every time the Leafs lose,” she admitted. “He’s relentless in his chirping of the Maple Leafs, and in his ridicule of me for continuing to choose to be a fan of them.”
“I’ve actually stopped responding to his texts because our text chain is literally just a stream of memes making fun of the Maple Leafs and their fan base,” she revealed. “And I was like I’m just not responding to you anymore. I’m just literally going to leave you on ‘read.’”
