Everyone packed PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh to the brim on Saturday night in anticipation of a final goodbye from beloved former Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury, who retired with the Minnesota Wild at the end of last season, signed a professional tryout offer this summer that would enable him to participate in training camp with his former team while also allowing him to play in one final preseason game for his beloved Penguins.

The night went about as well as you could have hoped for Fleury with the veteran netminder taking the net in the third period and putting on a picture perfect performance, stopping all 8 of the shots he faced in that period. Following the conclusion of the game however the Penguins elected to have a shootout with the Columbus Blue Jackets and that is unfortunately where things would end on a bit of a sour note.

Although Fleury would stop the first two shooters in impressive fashion, his former Penguins teammates would fail to produce any offense at the other end of the ice. That opened the door for Blue Jackets rookie forward Luca Del Bel Belluz to have a big moment of his own, and that is exactly what he did.

It ended the night on a bit of a sour note for Fleury who seemed to take it all in stride, while also creating a moment for Del Bel Belluz that he will never forget.

The good news here is that the Penguins did officially win the game, with Fleury officially shutting out his opponents in his final outing, and he was even named first star of the game for his efforts. That also gave Fleury a chance to come out and speak to the crowd at PPG Paints Arena following the conclusion of the shootout.
