NHL's use of “Golden Knights” reportedly under review by the U.S. Army.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights may have a problem on their hands in the form of the United States Army,

There are now reports that the Army is reviewing the use of the name by the Las Vegas franchise due to the fact that it has been in use for the United States Army's parachute team since the 1960s.

"We're reviewing the situation and figuring out what the way ahead would be," said an Army spokeswoman as per Steve DeVane of Fayobserver.com.

"We understand that one of the Las Vegas team owners has Army connections, and will likely understand our interest in this announcement is meant to protect the proud history of the Army's Golden Knights and their vital role in telling the Army story and connecting America with their Army," she added.

What exactly the Army plans to do here is unclear but this could be a major headache for the Golden Knights if the federal government is involved. To make matters worse for the Las Vegas Golden Knights is the fact that many have expressed the belief that stealing the name from the Army was unpatriotic.

No word yet on how long this review is expected to take, or what may come of it.
