Nobody expected that Jaromir Jagr would still be without an NHL contract on July 20, three weeks after the opening of the free agent market. Even though the 45-year-old posted 16 goals and 30 assists in 82 games last season, it seems like some teams believe he is not worth the kind of money he asks for.

According to ESPN's Josh Cooper, Jagr definitely still has a place in the NHL, but only if he signs with the right team and plays with the right players:

"With the Florida Panthers, Jagr -- the league's second-leading scorer all time -- showed excellent chemistry alongside linemates Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau. Some believe they helped boost Jagr's stats, which could be an issue for teams looking for help at right wing. If the same fit isn't there, Jagr's numbers could tumble."

"The consensus is that Jagr needs to land on a team that has the requisite amount of depth so he can be utilized in strictly offensive situations."

He also added the quote he got from a Western Conference scout, who absolutely believes Jagr still has a few good seasons ahead of him:

"Does a team like the Dallas Stars, that seems like it's going for it, fit? Montreal? I don't see how Montreal doesn't give Jagr a chance. Does Jagr make sense with the Chicago Blackhawks? I don't know. Shoot -- he could."

The Czech forward played 1711 games in the NHL, in which he recorded 765 goals and 1149 assists for 1914 points.
