Last week, Bob McKenzie discussed what the bubbles would look like for players in the hub cities of Toronto and Edmonton during the 24-team playoff tournament, set to begin on August 1st. He mentioned what players should expect from the isolated areas offered to them and it seems like the league is taking it a step further.

On Tuesday, McKenzie’s colleague Darren Dreger revealed that the NHL was now sending three groups of events staff to Edmonton and Toronto starting today.

“Hotel rooms, team rooms, workout facilities, testing for 900 at each site. Feeding 900 at each site.  The list of facility needs is extensive. Enormous undertaking kicking into high gear.”

That’s a huge undertaking, but the NHL is leaving nothing to chance. They want to make sure everything is in order for the players attending the 24-team playoff tournament.

However, we all wonder what happens if the event staff does not approve of what is taking place in the bubbles of the hub cities. How much time will they have to get everything under control for the players’ arrival on July 26?

This could be a make or break step in the process. We will have to see what these event staffers will have to say about the bubbles, and if Toronto and Edmonton will indeed respond to the expectations they sold to the NHL and its players when they won as top contenders to become the league’s hub cities.

Make or break!
