The National Hockey League has set the date for one of the most exciting days of the NHL calendar each and every season.

According to a report from NHL insider Mike Russo, the trade deadline for the 2026-27 NHL season will be March 1, 2027, which will fall on a Monday. This pushes the date back a little earlier than the one we saw this year, with the 2026 trade deadline falling on March 6th.

While the trade deadline itself is usually a very big day in hockey circles, this past season saw the likes of Nazem Kadri, John Carlson, Justin Faulk and more all moving on that day, the days and even weeks that immediately precede it can be just as exciting with teams scrambling to bolster their rosters ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

This past season exemplified this better than most with major trades involving defensemen Quinn Hughes and Rasmus Andersson occuring in season.

The only question now is who will be the major names that will be on the move this coming season?
