Although it has been many years since fans in the National Hockey League last got a chance to see Marian Hossa step out onto the ice, next month Hossa will officially be stepping away from the sport of hockey as a player when he plays in what has been earmarked to be his final game.

The event, being described as Hossa's "Goodbye Game," will feature a star-studded line up of NHL stars of the past, including many of Hossa's former teammates from his Stanley Cup runs with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The list of players expected to be on hand is truly incredible, with Zdeno Chara, Nicklas Lidstrom, Dustin Byfuglien, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Martin Havlat, Patrick Sharp, Marian Gaborik, Tomas Kopecky, Daniel Alfredsson. Milan Handzus, Miroslav Satan, Michal Rozsival, and longtime Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews all expected to show up for Hossa's big finale.

Hossa's career in the NHL, and in the sport of hockey as a whole, was cut short due to an allergic reaction to his equipment that he dealt with for several years. Eventually it became too much for the forward to manage, and he was forced to step away from the sport as a result.

Given that context, it is wonderful to see that Hossa will get such a beautiful send off with so many of his peers in attendance to celebrate his amazing hockey career.
