An absolutely insane wildfire has devastated the residents of Fort McMurray, Alberta. With more than 80,000 people forced to flee their homes, and in some cases losing their homes entirely to the fire, it's going to take a massive relief effort and a great deal of time and money to in order for those people to recover some semblance of normalcy.

Fortunately there are good people stepping up to help the victims of this tragedy, and earlier this week the National Hockey League announced it's intentions to help the victims of Fort McMurray by making a substantial donation in the amount of $100,000 to the relief effort.

"The National Hockey League family stands with all who have been affected by the devastating fires in Fort McMurray," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "We send thoughts of support and encouragement to our neighbors as they confront the physical and emotional impacts of this disaster."

While it's easy to assume the NHL has plenty of money to spend, they in now way were obligated to give so generously to this cause, and we are certain that money will go a long way to helping the victims.
