Much of the talk over the past few days has focused around the National Hockey League's decision to withdraw it's participation from the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. As time has passed we have heard more and more players speak out, but perhaps none has been as vocal as Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

On Tuesday Toews spoke to Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times, and when asked about a potential labor dispute Toews made it clear he felt they were headed down that road once again.

“I thought everyone has the best interests [of] the game of hockey [at heart], and obviously the ultimate respect for the fans. I didn’t think we would go through that, and we didn’t play till January. So I wouldn’t be surprised. If we’re already hitting some road bumps with something like [the Olympics], we’re heading in the same direction. Can’t say anyone should be surprised at this point.”

Toews may be correct in his belief that not many will be surprised if we witness another labor dispute between the league and the player's association, but there may be some fans who are at the end of their patience. This along with the rumors surround Alex Ovechkin today may be another byproduct of the NHL's controversial decision.
