NHL superstar skating with another team amidst contract squabble

When superstar Connor McDavid signed his epic $100 million contract earlier this summer with the Edmonton Oilers, fans and analysts figured it was only a matter of time until the team announced a new deal with emerging superstar Leon Draisaitl as well. Yet, here we are just mere weeks away from the beginning of training camp and pre-season games and Draisaitl remains without a deal.

In fact, now photos have surfaced of Draisaitl training with his hometown team the Cologne Sharks of the DEL.

So, what do we make of this? It’s probably harmless, players do offseason training with their former teammates and coaches all the time. But, the fact that Draisaitl goes so far as to wear the Sharks’ uniform isn’t sitting well with some Oilers fans.
