NHL suspends veteran defenseman for blatant cheap shot.

The National Hockey League has suspended veteran Dalton Prout for a blatant cheap shot delivered on the week-end.

In one of the more clear-cut cases of a revenge-based cheap shot, Prout delivered an inexcusable hit to Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas who was nowhere near the puck at the time of the impact.

As a result the Devils defenseman will be forced to sit out two games with a suspension, and will also have to forfeit his salary for both of those games, hardly worthwhile for what appears to have been misguided anger from Prout.
