NHL team gets some great news towards their hopes of a new arena.

The Ottawa Senators and their fan base were treated to some good news on Thursday.

According to a report from CFRA's Kristy Cameron the National Capital Commission selected the Rendezvous Le Breton group, a group backed by the Ottawa Senators franchise, and the preferred proponent for the LeBreton Flats redevelopment project.

This is great news for the Senators as the construction of a new arena for the Senators has always been a part of the vision from the Rendezvous Le Breton group when it comes to the redevelopment project.

It's hardly a done deal however, there will now be intense negotiations over the course of the next year to see if the two sides can agree to terms of a deal that will see the project brought to life, but it's certainly a very good first step, and a very big one at that.
