Did Nic Dowd cross the line?
The Stanley Cup playoffs can get nasty at times, we've all seen it, and this year's opening round playoff series have certainly been no exception.
On Sunday night we got perhaps our best example of these playoffs so far when Game 1 of the opening round playoff series between the Vegas Golden Knights and Utah Mammoth turned ugly.
There were several scuffles late in the game as tempers flared on both sides late in the game, but it was after the final whistle had already gone that things may have gone over the line. It would be Vegas Golden Knights veteran forward Nic Dowd who would be at the center of the incident, taking issue with the behavior of Mammoth forward Logan Cooley during Game 1.
Cooley and Dowd got into it themselves during the game but it would be after Cooley had a heated exchange with Golden Knights defenseman Rasmus Andersson after the final buzzer that Dowd seemed to finally lose his cool.
Cameras were rolling as Dowd issued a clear threat to Cooley, and it was very easy to read the words on his lips.
"I'm coming for you, and I'm gonna f**king kill you," Dowd can be seen clearly mouthing to Cooley.
Now to be clear I don't believe for a second that Dowd intends to actually make good on his threat, but it will be interesting to see if the National Hockey League gets involved here given that this was in plain view of the cameras late in the game.
