A pair of teams pulled off a trade while the rest of the National Hockey League was already sound asleep on Sunday night.

The deal was struck between the Vegas Golden Knights and Nashville Predators and will see 3 different players on the move in the deal. Let's first take a look at the breakdown of what each team received.

Golden Knights receive:
Jeremy Lauzon
Colton Sissons

Predators receive:
Nicolas Hague

Hague is of course the centerpiece of this deal and the fact that he has now been dealt to the Nashville Predators make it clear, at least to me, that the Golden Knights simply weren't prepared to offer Hague what he was asking for on a new deal.

The Predators on the other hand have quickly moved to sign Hague following this trade, leading me to believe that part of this deal was contingent on the Predators and Hague being able to come to an agreement.

Hague was a restricted free agent after playing out the final year of a 3 year deal that carried an average annual value and salary cap hit of $2.29 million per season, and his new deal with the Predators marks a significant raise. Hague has agreed to a four year deal with the Predators, one that comes it at an average annual value and salary cap hit of $5.5 million per season.

Hague appeared in 68 games for the Golden Knights last season scoring 5 goals and adding 7 assists for a total of 12 points, he finished the season with 40 penalty minutes and a plus minus rating of -2.
