
With less than an hour to go, there is the first official trade on the day.
The St. Louis Blues have traded forward Nick Bjugstad to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday, with less than an hour to go to before the roster freeze. The return is prospect Thomas Bordeleau and a conditional fourth round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Bordeleau will report to the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
After 3 p.m. ET today, no trades can occur, and the NHL will enter a roster freeze until February 22 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Bjugstad has recorded six goals and one assist in 35 games with the Blues this season. He is signed through next season at a cap hit of $1.75 million.
As for Bordeleau, he is a 24-year old forward and has taken part in in 35 games for the AHL’s Utica Comets this season, recording eight points (two goals, six assists) and 37 penalty minutes. Bordeleau has also made 44 career NHL regular-season appearances with the San Jose Sharks, tallying 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) and 18 penalty minutes. He was drafted by the Sharks in the second round, 38th overall, of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
In 795 career NHL regular-season games, the new Devil Bjugstad has put up 337 points (163 goals, 174 assists) and 369 penalty minutes.
