Nicklas Lidstrom shares true thoughts on Moritz Seider
The Red Wings legend spoke about Detroit's current top blue liner.

The Detroit Red Wings selected German defenseman Moritz Seider with the 6th overall selection in the 2019 NHL Draft, and he's emerged as the team's top blue liner and earned himself the Calder Trophy as the League's top rookie for 2021-22.
Last year, he etched himself into the record books by tying a franchise record for most assists in a game by a defenseman since Mike Green accomplished the feat in 2017, while also becoming the 4th active defenseman aged 21 or younger to register a four assist game.
Oh, and there was also the matter of him having tied the late Steve Chiasson with his 13th multi-point game at age 21 or younger, trailing only the legendary Nicklas Lidstrom in that particular category.
For Lidstrom, who is on hand for the NHL Global Series in his native Sweden and who also dropped the ceremonial puck drop,
"It takes time as a defenseman to play a lot of minutes, to play against the top players and to have to do it every night," he said. "So I think he's taken huge strides for our team, just becoming better and better."
Lidstrom knows all about playing top minutes, having routinely done so throughout his Hall of Fame career with the Red Wings that saw him win multiple Norris Trophies as the League's top defenseman.
With one major award already under his belt, could the Norris be in Seider's future at some point?
