Nicolas Aube-Kubel's NHL career appears to be over.

The impressive National Hockey League career of veteran forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel appears to be over, at least for now.

Over the weekend there were rumblings that Aube-Kubel was looking at options regarding potentially playing overseas next season and now those rumblings have been officially confirmed. According to a report from Jeremy Garrett of Hockey News Hub, Aube-Kubel has now agreed to terms on a new contract with Dinamo Minsk, one of the premier teams in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Aube-Kubel's new deal will run through May of 2027.

If this is indeed the last we have seen of Aube-Kubel in the NHL it marks the end of an impressive career, one in which Aube-Kubel overcame the odds to claim hockey's ultimate prize. Originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round (48th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Aube-Kubel would spend the first three seasons of his professional career in the American Hockey League. Aube-Kubel would earn a brief 9 game stint with the Flyers during the 2018-19 season but it wasn't until the 2019-20 season that he truly established himself on the roster.

Aube-Kubel has since appeared in a total of 310 regular season games where he had 32 goals and 50 assists for 82 career points, split between the Flyers, Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild.

The crowning moment of his NHL career though would come during the 2021-22 season where, with the aforementioned Avalanche, he won a Stanley Cup championship and forever etched his name into hockey history.

Hopefully Aube-Kubel will have continued success in this next chapter of his career in the KHL.
