Nicolas Deslauriers snaps and shows Brennan Othmann no mercy.
Full credit to New York Rangers forward Brennan Othmann for sticking up for himself on Saturday afternoon, but that may be a decision that he now regrets.
Othmann crossed paths with Philadelphia Flyers forward Nicolas Deslauriers on Saturday when Othmann was on the receiving end of a dangerous hit from the veteran forward during a clash between the Rangers and Flyers. Othmann was playing the puck in the corner and attempted to cut back up the ice when he was on the receiving end of what ended up being a dangerous hit from Deslauriers.
The end result was Othmann being drilled into the boards from behind, although there was no question that Othmann's sudden shift in position contributed to the dangerousness of the hit, something that the Rangers forward was not about to let Deslauriers get away with. Othmann would instead challenge Deslauriers to a fight, which the Flyers forward was more than willing to accept.
Deslauriers not only accepted the challenge but appeared to completely snap on Othmann the moment the challenge was made, pummeling the Rangers forward into submission with blow after blow while Othmann himself seemed to produce little to no offense in response. Even when Othmann had crumpled down to the ice, Deslauriers continued to ragdoll him, shaking his body with both hands, as if it let Othmann know that he had barked up the wrong tree.
